We had succesfully uploaded our new website to GitHub and publish it with Netlify. Ok, but that doesn’t mean we can’t keep working on it. We haven’t included an about page yet. Let’s do that now!
Create a Static Page in Hugo
We have three pages in our website, and all of them are dinamic. We have a blog, a news page and the page with all the tags. To create a static page like the “About” page, we need to go to our console and write:
hugo new about.md
Now, let’s add it to the menu. Go to the
config.toml file and add:
[[menu.main]] name = "About" url = "about" weight = 4
That’s all! Now you are ready to add content to the page and put it online.
Remember, if you followed Let’s Start from the Basics: Part 6, Hugo and Netlify. How to deploy our new site? you’ll only need to use the following git commands to have your code uploaded to GitHub and from there, Netlify will do the rest. You website will be updated in minutes!
$ git add . $ git commit -m "Add About page" $ git push origin master
